Emerging mural artists as well as mid-career artists looking to try their hand at mural making are invited to submit applications to create a mural. Artists or artist teams must currently reside in the Capital Region, including the Gulf Islands. This project will see the creation of 10+ murals within the Rock Bay neighbourhood in private and public property. The selected artists will be assigned a wall by the Production Coordinator.  Once a wall has been assigned, the artists will submit a design proposal for review and approval by the owner of the building and the project team.

The artist fees for this project will range from $500 – $1,250.  The selected artist fee will take in consideration the size and complexities associated with a given mural site as well as the individual artist’s level of experience. The walls will be assigned in early July, and the installation of works between August 12 and 27th 2018.

Applications are to be emailed to by 4 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, June 7th, 2018. Submissions will be juried by a selection committee including artists, design professionals, community members, and a representative of the Art in Public Places Committee. The Selection Committee will be facilitated by City staff but the final decision will be that of the Selection Committee.  The selected artists will be announced in late April.
