Call to Artists – Ottawa Art Gallery Expansion


The City of Ottawa invites artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for consideration to design, fabricate and install a permanent site-specific artwork for the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) Expansion and Arts Court Redevelopment Project. This two-stage competition is held in accordance with the Public Art Policy.


Deadline:                                            Tuesday November 14, 2017, 4:00 p.m. EST

Budget:                                               $385,000.00 in Canadian Dollars + HST

The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) Expansion and Arts Court Redevelopment project is part of a long-standing vision for the revitalization of Ottawa’s downtown. It will provide a new Ottawa Art Gallery and help raise the profile of Arts Court as the City of Ottawa’s downtown arts centre, located on Daly Avenue in the heart of Downtown Rideau’s retail, arts and theatre district, surrounded by the University of Ottawa, the Rideau Centre, the Convention Centre, and steps away from the Rideau Canal, National Arts Centre, Byward Market and new LRT stations.

Emerging Artist Residency Competition – One Month Rent Free 

 Lucky Rabbit & Co. Artists’ House is pleased to announce that they are accepting is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for a 2018 Artist in Residence competition. Open to emerging Canadian artists of any discipline, the winner will receive a one month residency rent-free, in the apartment and adjoining studio (apartment: 300 sq’ /studio: 350 sq’) at Lucky Rabbit & Co. plus a $100 stipend. All other expenses, including travel, are the responsibility of the artist. The winner may choose any month in 2018. If required, transportation to and from the airport will be provided. Lucky Rabbit & Co. is a collective of professional self-employed artists who live and work in the beautiful Town of Annapolis Royal, in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. The winner will be chosen by a jury of 5 artists.

Please submit a short paragraph (max 250 words) devoted to a statement of intent and objectives of the residency, also a CV, artist statement, 3 references, and appropriate discipline documents, such as 10 visual images, writings, 3 recordings, or video document for performance.
