The” Nanaimo Fine Art Show” will illustrate and celebrate the vitality and high quality of visual art in our community. This juried show sets out to become a premier annual event and it is expected to offer excellent exposure from all forms of accepted FCA media.
It will be held in the beautiful River Room in the new and prestigious Vancouver Island Conference Centre, between June 3rd and 5th, 2016. A gala opening with local dignitaries, live music, refreshments and awards ceremony will be hosted on June 3rd from 7 PM. This event is ‘By Invitation Only’.
A First prize of $1000 will be presented; a Second prize of $750 and a Third prize of $500 from the jurors’ selection.
To enter this exhibition you must be an Active member in good standing with the Federation of Canadian Artists in Vancouver and also be in good standing with one of the following FCA Chapters: Nanaimo, Arrowsmith or Victoria. Refer to the renewal links at the end of this document to renew your membership.
After jurying, submissions will fall into one of three categories:
Qualifying and count towards Signature Status points with the FCA
Non-Qualifying for FCA Signature points, but score high enough to be included as part of the Nanaimo Chapter display. This category is available for Nanaimo FCA Members Only
Non-qualifying artworks that are declined for display.
Artists are encouraged to submit their most recent artwork. You may submit artworks that have been previously submitted or accepted to the Federation Gallery in Vancouver, or any FCA Chapter show except Nanaimo.
Chapter Show Submissions are subject to general Federation of Canadian Artists Submission Requirements, found in the FCA policy manual. All works submitted must be for sale.
Entry Fees (up to 3 entries)
Early Bird Rate: Applies to entries submitted before 4 PM on March 17th
$15.00 CAN for the first entry
$5.00 CAN per entry, up to two entries thereafter
$25.00 CAN for the first entry
$10.00 CAN per entry, up to two entries thereafter
January 15 to April 27 – Submission dates
April 27 – Submission closes at midnight
Friday, June 3, 8AM to 12 Noon – Drop off at River Room in Vancouver Island Conference Center (All deliveries must be hand delivered; shipped deliveries are not permissible.)
Friday, June 3rd Gala reception by invitation only 7 p.m. – 9p.m.
Saturday, June 4th – 9a.m. – 9p.m. Show hours
Sunday, June 5th – 9a.m. – 4p.m. Show hours
June 5 between 4PM to 5PM – Pick up paintings (Uncollected works left after 5 p.m. at owners risk. Contact the show chair Vida Newington for related costs and storage charges. email@example.com
