Art Avenue is the Federation of Canadian Artists’ membership magazine, published six times per year. Included in the price of a membership, it features a variety of content including visual galleries of recent Federation exhibitions, upcoming submission and exhibtion information, articles from our membership on styles and technique, event dates and important FCA announcements, and regular features exploring artist studios and works. The editorial team is always on the lookout for new content, or suggestions for new features…
What to Submit?
We allow limited space in each issue to publish member news, member exhibitions and articles at no charge at the discretion of the Art Avenue Editor and on a first come first publish basis. Submissions will be reviewed by the editor to determine eligibility for feature. We cannot guarantee that all articles will be published, or the issue in which they are published. See below for the various opportunities to submit to Art Avenue.
In the News / Current exhibtiosn – 50 word limit
This feature is for artists to announce personal, art-related achievements and news such as exhibitions, accomplishments or awards.
Please submit the facts such as title, dates, location of the exhibition and name of the award for example. You may submit more than one piece of news at a time. Accompanying images are welcomed, but we do not feature exhibition promotional materials. Instead we will feature an image of a work that is in the exhibition you would like to mention. In the case of multiple FCA members exhibiting to one exhibition, we will accept one image from each artist and an image will be selected at random by the design team.*
Complimentary Articles – 400-800 word limit
FCA members may submit articles of up to 800 words along with 3-5 photographs for Art Avenue on various art related topics. Regularly check the FCA website or facebook page for the current content requests, to see if there is something in your field! Submission opportunities include:
‘The Inside View’ and ‘A Painting in the Life of…’: These are two regular features with their own submission requirements, that can be found via www.artists.ca under the Member Resources section.
Sourcing New Features: If you would like to contribute to Art Avenue with an article or new regular feature, please contact us with your ideas. The FCA allows member artists to submit art-related articles for free in return for the commitment of meeting the publication deadlines with quality and engaging content.
Good color digital images (JPEGs) are welcomed. Resolution: 300dpi, at least 1500 pixels on the longest side. Recommended maximum image size is 2000 pixels on the largest dimension (either height or width.) We do not guarantee the inclusion of any images, and the final decision is made by the design and layout team.
