Platforms 2015 – 2017: Coastal City
Call to Artists – Proposals for Temporary 2-D Outdoor Works
City of Vancouver – Public Art Program | Vancouver, BC, Canada

Online Artist Q & A: Monday, September 21, 12:00 noon – 2:00pm

Deadline for submissions: Tuesday, September 29, 10:00am
Budget: $5,000

The City of Vancouver Public Art Program invites artists to propose new
artworks for 2-D platforms on the streets and public places of Vancouver,
BC. For this call, we ask artists to consider the general theme of “coastal
city” – the border between land and sea, the designation of boundaries and
life in a region near the shore, the changing land and ocean-scape, the
influx of people and goods, the unique ecosystems, challenges, and
opportunities – the circumstances that make coastal cities such as Vancouver
unique.

New works will be commissioned for the following platforms:
*                    LED Video Screens
*                    Transit Shelter Ad Space
*                    Canada Line City Centre Station
*                    Queen Elizabeth Plaza

Up to 15 artists will be shortlisted and asked to develop a full concept
plan for approval before completing the work. Selected artists will supply a
high-quality digital file meeting the specifications of the commissioned
platform. The City will be responsible for the cost of production and
installation.

ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is open to artists living and working in the Pacific
Northwest, including British Columbia and Washington State. Aboriginal
artists and artists of diverse communities and backgrounds warmly welcomed.
