Upcoming BC Culture Days events

PRINT!FINAL2

To celebrate BC Culture Days 2014 and to compliment the Biannual Miniature Print Exhibition (September 9th – 28th), the Federation of Canadian Artists, in association with New Leaf Editions and Dundarave Print Workshop and Gallery are hosting a weekend of print making activities at three Granville Island locations called PRINT!

Print making is a fantastic art process and much more versatile and creative than many people realise! There are all types of prints and print making processes, from traditional woodblocks and printing presses to modern transfer methods and high art processes. You can learn more about these by visiting a participating venue over the weekend, getting involved and making your very own print!

Participating Venues

Federation of Canadian Artists at 1241 Cartwright Street was founded in 1941 and is a non-profit registered charity that promotes art, artists and art education in Canadian society. For PRINT! the Federation Gallery will be displaying the Biannual International Miniature Print exhibition, which is free to attend and features over 300 miniature prints made using a variety of print making processes.

Visitors to the Federation Gallery for the weekend can make their own printing plate and print using ‘found materials’. This is a free hands-on activity suitable for children, families and anyone who would like to try! Completed prints will hang in a pop-up print exhibition and be judged for ‘Best Print in Show’. The winning entry will receive a prize basket full of Granville Island Goodies from local businesses!

The print making activity is available from 10 am – 5 pm on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th. The entries will be judged by the Executive Director of the FCA and announced on Monday 29th.
